Celebrating the 80th Anniversary of Korean National Liberation – Feb, 6~27, 2025

    광복 80주년 기념 한미 원로작가 교류전 [미주 한국일보] ▶ ‘같은 하늘 아래: 예술의 유산’ ▶ 2월6일부터 LA문화원 갤러리서 ▶ “세대를 초월한 예술적 대화 한미 예술가 깊은 우정·소통”   8명의 LA 한미 원로작가들이 한 자리에 모인다. LA 한국문화원(원장 정상원)은 광복 80주년을 맞아 2월6일부터 27일까지 3주간 문화원 2층 아트갤러리에서 한미 원로작가 교류전 ‘같은 하늘 아래: 예술의 유산’(Beneath a Shared Sky: A Legacy of Art)을 개최한다고 밝혔다. 이번 특별전은 남가주한인미술가협회(회장 전윤선)와 공동 기획한 전시로, 남가주 지역에서 활동하는 1세대 한인과 미국 원로 예술가들이 함께 양국의 문화적 유산과 예술적 성취를 조명하는 행사다. 참여 작가는 김진실, 신정연, 조분연, 홍선애, 로버트 커닝햄, 팀 도일, 에릭 존슨, 벤 재스크 등 8명으로, 이들은 회화부터 조각, 혼합 매체에 이르기까지 40여 점의 작품을 선보인다. 이번 전시는 세대를 초월한 예술적 대화를 나누는 동시에, 한미 예술가 간의 깊은 우정과 소통의 의미를 담고 있다고 문화원은 밝혔다. 전윤선 남가주한인미술가협회장은 “남가주 한인 원로 작가들과 이 지역에서 왕성한 활동을 펼치고 있는 미국 원로 작가들이 함께하는 이번 전시가 많은 분들에게 의미 있는 시간이 되길 바란다”며 “특별전을 통해 서로의 예술을 공유하고 축하하는 자리가 되길 기대한다”고 전시 취지를 설명했다. 정상원 문화원장은 “광복 80주년을 맞아 남가주한인미술가협회와 함께 LA 지역 원로 작가들을 초청해 전시를 마련하게 되어 더욱 뜻깊다”며 “이번 전시를 통해 1세대 한인 작가들의 예술적 발자취를 조명하고, 미국 원로 작가들과의 […]

In the Color of May – May 8th~18th, 2024

  In the Color of May Artists are keen observers of their environment, and this observation often serves as a kind of mental sponge. These points are stored, shuffled, shifted, and often surface in the artist’s work. Sometimes, they are used purposefully to call attention to an idea or statement the artist has isolated for the viewer’s consideration. Oftentimes, these details are too numerous and too obscure to become a specific part of an artist’s creation but instead influence, color, or accent an entire body of work. I hope this exhibition will foster a rich dialogue between Korean and American artists to deepen their understanding of the world of art by connecting and sharing their works.
